Crete Weather

Red hot summers and mild to warm winters are typical of Crete, which has a climate influenced by a Mediterranean weather system. The months of July and August are the hottest and rainfall is also at its lowest during this time.

Summer

During the months of July and August, you can expect temperatures to be in the low to mid 30s, which many visitors may be inclined to find too hot. However, sun worshippers aren’t generally put off by this and the island’s beaches are typically full during these months. Things are somewhat cooler in June and September, and these are perhaps better months to visit if you intend on doing some sightseeing. Rainfall from June through to September is exceedingly low, if not non-existent, so you needn’t worry about storms curtailing your activities.

Winter

Temperatures in winter are very mild and you can expect daily highs of 15 ºC to 17ºC, which makes Crete the ideal place to head to if you are looking to escape the chills of a British winter. Rainfall is heaviest in the months from October to December, but even then, the rain is not significant enough to be a barrier to you enjoying your holiday.
