Getting to Corfu
As Corfu is an island, there are no options for getting here by road or rail and visitors have to choose between arriving by air or ferry as their mode of transportation. Ferry routes are fairly limited however, with the vast majority of holidaymakers arriving in Corfu at Corfu Ioannis Kapodistrias International Airport.
By bus
You can get to mainland Greece from various EU cities via the Eurolines bus service (www.eurolines.com). From the mainland, holidaymakers can then make their way to Corfu by ferry, with services departing from Igoumenitsa and Patras.

By air
Corfu Ioannis Kapodistrias International Airport is the island’s only air gateway, and in spite of the fact that it is only a small facility, it still handles around nine million passengers per year. The airport’s single terminal sees flights arrive and depart between Corfu, mainland Greece and a number of EU cities.
By ferry
Ferries to Corfu are available from both mainland Greece and Italy. If you are coming from Greece, you can choose to sail from either Patras or Igoumenitsa (the Patras route goes via Igoumenitsa) with Minoan Ferries. Those coming from Italy can sail from Trieste, Ancona or Venice with Anek Lines; from Brindisi with SNAV Ferry Company or from Bari with Blue Star Ferries. Contact individual ferry companies for details of schedules and bookings.
Corfu International Airport
Corfu International Airport, or Corfu Ioannis Kapodistrias International Airport, is a single terminal airport, located about three kilometres from Kerkyra (Corfu Town). Olympic Airways and Aegean Airways are the only airlines providing flights into and out of the island, and many visitors are required to fly to mainland Greece and then take a transfer flight to Corfu.
The airport offers basic facilities, which include an ATM, bureau de change, small post office and a single café and bar for dining and refreshments. A duty-free shop can also be found beyond passport control.
Corfu airport transportation
Ground transfer options from Corfu Airport are pretty limited and passengers without pre-arranged transportation have buses and taxis as their only choices. Buses connect the airport with Kerkyra and a number of other major destinations on the island; services are relatively frequent and not especially expensive. Taxis, meanwhile, can be hired from outside of the Arrivals area of the airport terminal. It’s wise to agree a price for your journey with the taxi driver before setting off.
Many arrivals will already have their transport taken care of by the hotels with whom they’ve made reservations. Free shuttle buses are invariably part of package holidays these days, although it’s wise to confirm the availability of such services at the time of booking.
