Stuttgart Restaurants
Stuttgart's Swabian wine and beer have been produced in the region since the 17th century, making for a great accompaniment to any delicious meal sampled in Stuttgart.
Local cuisine
Noted specialities include Schwäbischer rostbraten, slices of roast beef and fried onions served with sauerkraut and unique varieties of local Swabian noodles called maultaschen and spätzle. These specialities are best accompanied by one of the high quality wines produced in the region.
Much of the traditional food in Stuttgart relies on sausage, beef and root vegetables. In fact, the regional dish is gaisburger marsch, which is a stew of diced beef, vegetables, potatoes, fried onions and spätzle. As noted above, spätzle is a Swabian noodle, made out of flour and egg dough, then dropped in boiling water. Spätzle are served as an accompaniment to several dishes, and are also served on their own as a main course, in the form of kässpätzle, or noodles and cheese.
Where to eat
