Heidelberg Transport
As Heidelberg is a small city, most people get around by walking, although sometimes, buses or taxis can come in handy if you are tired from shopping or if you have to travel from one part of the town to another. However, if you plan on walking all day, wearing comfortable shoes is highly recommended, as you might have to walk uphill or up many steps. Tapping your high heels on the brick streets might not be a good idea either.
If you plan to use public transportation frequently during your visit, it is a good idea to purchase a special ticket that can save you a lot of money. Family tickets are also available. For detailed information, you can check with your hotel or check out the RNV information booth at Bismarck Place or visit: www.rnv-online.de.
There are taxi ranks located at some parts of the town. The main taxi ranks are outside Heidelberg’s main railway station, the Bismackplatz, Neckarmünzplatz and at the University Square. For booking or more information, call: +49 6221 30 20 30 or +49 1 94 19 for 24 hour service.
Moonliner Buses are special services operated from Friday to Sunday night and on the eve of public holidays especially for partygoers from 01:00 to 04:00, departing from Bismarckplatz to most parts of the city.
