Frankfurt Weather

In Frankfurt, you will encounter a moderately humid climate, with rain being a possibility throughout most of the year. The best times to visit are late spring to early autumn. The summers are warm and occasionally very hot, while the winters can be cold with frequent rain.

Hot and sultry summers

The weather in May, September and October is often better than in the summer months of June to August, when the temperatures can climb to a hot and sultry 35°C. Light rain can also be expected during this period. Visiting during the spring and autumn is worth considering if you wish to avoid the hot summer months and benefit from fewer crowds. Moderately light clothes should be fine, but it is always a good idea to bring a waterproof coat along for the occasional rainy day or chillier night.

Cloudy winters

During the winter, skies are almost always covered in clouds and the weather is coldest in January. From November to February, temperatures frequently slide below freezing point and storms are common. Rain occurs regularly; however, there is hardly any snow inside Frankfurt itself. If you’re in the city during the winter season, you will definitely need rainproof and warm clothing.
