Dusseldorf Leisure

Visitors to Dusseldorf will find a host of opportunities for sport and leisure time activities at the city’s playgrounds, swimming facilities, saunas, leisure parks, gardens and forests. Racing fans will enjoy a day at the Grafenberg Galopprennbahn racecourse, which is also good fun and exciting entertainment for the whole family.

Parks and public areas

The Wildpark and Waldschule Forest and smaller gardens throughout the city are popular with nature lovers. For a bit of exercise, you might try one of the city’s swimming baths or free swimming pools, followed by a relaxing visit to a sauna. There are also 16 different sports grounds around Dusseldorf, providing many opportunities to stay fit and join in informal team sports.

Leisure centres

The family can enjoy one of the city’s three leisure parks for numerous recreational and sporting activities that cater to the whole family. Unterbach Lake Leisure Centre, in the south of the city, is an example of a well-equipped facility featuring beach pools, children’s playgrounds, a sauna, sailing and surfing schools, areas for barbecues and footpaths on which you can explore the lovely surroundings. Also family-orientated, there are more than 400 public playgrounds and places to play football around Dusseldorf. Twenty of these playgrounds are in woodland areas, and at least half of the others are located in parks.
