Cologne Weather

The climate of northwestern Germany is changeable, with seasonal changes and day-to-day weather often comparable to that of the UK or Northern France. Cologne is 50m above sea level, which is partly responsible for the city’s mild climate, with average temperatures ranging from -1°C in winter to 24°C in the summer.

Summer

Cologne's summers are slightly wet and humid with a cool breeze, rather than blazingly hot. Despite the threat of rain, July and August are delightful months to visit Cologne in terms of temperature. June and August have the most precipitation, and July is the hottest month of the year.

Winter

Cologne has moderate, mild winters, with February being the coldest time of the year. It seldom snows during a Cologne winter, but keep in mind that in the dead of winter, there are only six to eight hours of daylight, with the sun setting in mid-afternoon in December.

Spring and autumn
The nicest weather is in spring, from March to May - and autumn, from September to October. May and September are the most pleasant months, when outdoor cafes and beer gardens are open and busy. Rain is always a possibility, but not constant enough to thwart your pleasure. May to March and October to early November also have plenty of mild and nice days.
