Cologne Leisure
For a city with a penchant for having so much to do, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Cologne has many sport and leisure activities ranging from walking in the park, to more strenuous activities such as indoor wall climbing. In addition, it would be an injustice not to mention football in this football mad city. Cologne is home to Bundesliga 2 football club, FC Köln, and the Rhein Energie Stadion, with a 50,997 spectator capacity, that was host to some of the matches of the FIFA 2006 World Cup.
Outdoors
The tree-lined Rhine promenades are perfect for walking or jogging in Cologne. However, Cologne’s many parks and green belt aren’t just an invitation for pedestrian walkers, runners and skaters. Whoever’s fit enough can compete in the Cologne marathon at the beginning of October each year. With 15,000 competitors, the Cologne marathon is the second largest marathon in Germany.
