Bonn Weather

Bonn enjoys one of the more temperate climates in Germany due to its southern location. Although it certainly has four distinct seasons, winters arent as harsh as those in northern Germany and summers are longer and warmer than other parts of the country.

Summer and winter

The warm and sunny summer months between June and September bring out the active lifestyle in Bonn. Occasionally, the mercury breaks the 30 mark, but its not often. The summer months, however, bring unpredictable daily weather. A sunny morning can turn into a thundering downpour by the afternoon, without much notice. Winters are certainly chilly, but prolonged periods of snow and frost are rare. Expect cold temperatures from November through March. Precipitation falls throughout the year, so always come prepared for some wet weather.

Shoulder seasons

Spring and autumn are some of the best times to visit Bonn. April and May bring the first warm days of the year, which cause the city to burst into life, while autumn sees crisp blue skies and nearly perfect weather. Tourist numbers are usually quite low during the off-season, making for a more relaxed and personal experience in Bonn.
