Bonn Restaurants
Bonn has no shortage of choices when it comes to dining out. Its international reputation means there is a plethora of ethnic restaurants from around the world as well as traditional Rhineland establishments. Food is available in Bonn at all hours of the day, so both early birds and late owls can always find something good to eat.
When you enter any restaurant in Bonn, you should simply seat yourself. Germans like to choose where they sit, and dont be surprised if someone sits down in the empty chair at your table. Its perfectly normal to share a table with strangers, so enjoy the experience. Its also standard practice to pay separately in German restaurants, so dont feel shy about asking to pay getrennt (individually). If your bill says bedienung, this means a service charge has already been added to your bill; otherwise, leave a tip for your waitress.
Local cuisine
The cuisine in Bonn has been influenced by several regional styles, most significantly the Rhenish ones. The French, who occupied the city in the early 19th century, left their mark on the local dishes as well. Bonns cooking is often hearty, solid fare, with a subtleness that was influenced by the French.

Where to eat
Fantastic food can be found all over the city, but if you have to stick to just one or two areas, the city centre and the Poppelsdorf district are the best. The city centre is the culinary heart of Bonn, with so many excellent restaurants to choose from your head will spin. For a typical Bavarian meal, try the Salvator pub. Em Hottche is another great choice if you want to experience some authentic pub-style eating.
Poppelsdorf is the centre of Bonns university population and as such, it has a huge variety of places to eat, drink and be merry. The cafs and ethnic restaurants in this neighbourhood are particularly good. For a taste of Turkish food, try Efes Restaurant, where the atmosphere is as good as a trip to Istanbul. If you feel like something Caribbean, check out the Havana Caf, where you can relish in the Cuban specialties and traditional cocktails. Caf Anders is another solid choice if you are looking for something in the way of a caf-bar.
Bad Godesberg is one of Bonns largest neighbourhoods and is home to many excellent restaurants. There are several places to dine along the Rhine River, with lovely beer gardens open during the summertime. Beuel is another excellent district where you can enjoy eating and drinking right on the riverbank. The Beueler Bahnhofchen is here, with one of the largest beer gardens in the city and a regularly changing menu. Altstadt (Old Town) is the place to go for a cosy wine bar or an artsy caf. Many of the places here have simply wonderful rustic atmospheres.
