Berlin Weather

Berlin has a classic, continental climate, with warm sunny summers and long cold winters. Rain can fall all year round, but the precipitation is particularly heavy in June and August.

Active summers

The sunny summer months between June and August bring welcome warm temperatures and long hours of daylight. Occasionally, the weather breaks the 30 mark, but its not often. The summer months, however, bring unpredictable daily weather, when a sunny day can quickly turn into a raging thunderstorm. The city comes alive during these months with lots of festivals and outdoor activities.

Harsh winters

Theres no avoiding the fact that wintertime in Berlin is miserable. The weather is bitterly cold and damp most of the time between November and March. If its not snowing, then the frost takes over as temperatures hover around freezing day and night. The grey, frigid weather keeps most tourists away, but if you can deal with the cold, youll have the city to yourself.

Shoulder seasons
Spring and autumn are the best times to visit Berlin. April and May bring brief showers, which cause the city to burst into life, while autumn sees crisp blue skies and perfect weather. October is one of the driest months of the year and the month of Octoberfest.
