Strasbourg Weather

Strasbourg has a typical continental climate, with four distinct seasons. It is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year, as each season has its own characteristics which make it special.

Winter

Winter happens from November through March, when temperatures are at their lowest of around 3°C. The weather is quite cold and often snowy; however, the city is at its most beautiful during the Christmas season.

Summer

Summers are hot and humid, but not oppressive, averaging around 20°C. During these warm months, you can get out and explore the Alsatian countryside more easily. Spring is very pleasant, with its blooming flowers and mild temperatures, and autumn is also wonderful, when the trees brilliantly change colour and the air becomes cool and refreshing. Rain can happen at any time of the year in Strasbourg due to its location near the mountains, but most of it falls between October and January.

Christmas is an extremely popular time to visit Strasbourg, as it turns into a white wonderland of lights and snow. The peak summer vacation months are also very busy, so it’s advisable to visit during the shoulder seasons of spring and fall, when there are fewer crowds and the weather is delightful. Late May to early June is best for enjoying the flowers, while October sees crisp blue skies and a colourful mountain backdrop.
