Many anchor their luxury yachts here and the harbour area is a great place for a sunset stroll. Additionally, you can laze around the beaches or enjoy a drink in one of the many bars. Water sports are also plentiful for those who want a little exercise.

Celebrity-watching can prove interesting here with stars such as Oprah Winfrey, Don Johnson, Quincy Jones, Barbra Streisand, Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro, Sean P Diddy Combs and Elton John all making regual appearances.

Day trips

The stretch of coastline between Hyres and St-RaphaelFrjus is perfect for daytrips. Inland, youll find the natural wooded hills of Massif des Maures. Alternatively, explore the medieval hilltop villages of Collobrires and La Garde Freinet. The picturesque island of les dHyres (often called the les dOr), is just a ferry ride away and boasts some of the best wildlife Provence.

Farther afield, Cannes is the place to go for more star-spotting, during the International Film Festival at the Palais des Festivals. Other events include international regattas, galas, and the Mimosa Festival in February.

Activities and leisure

St Tropez is all about leisure, and one of the most popular activities here is sunbathing on the beach. You can also get pampered in a spa or shop in elegant boutiques. There is an endless supply of bars and nightclubs to suit the most elegant tastes here as well, but make sure you bring a very healthy credit card!

Safety issues

Visitors are more susceptible to dangers in an unfamiliar environment and when on holiday. Pickpocketing can be a problem in busy resorts. When travelling to St Tropez, we strongly recommend you take out travel insurance for you and your family.
