St Tropez Restaurants

As is typical of Mediterranean France, eating and siestas play an important role in daily life. St Tropez is no different, and the town boasts dozens of cafés and restaurants featuring the best of international and local cuisine, and superb local wines, catering to appetites from morning until very late at night.

Local cuisine

As part of Provence, St Tropez can claim some of the world’s most highly rated cuisine, and the town also draws heavily on its Genoese heritage in its range of pasta. Fish and seafood is featured in many local dishes, which tastefully blend elements from neighbouring Mediterranean areas. Meat lovers will revel in the array of grilled dishes on offer, which can be washed down with locally produced wine that is of excellent quality. Tapas form an important part of the daily diet, eaten as a ‘snack’ in the late afternoon. Typically, the locals dine very late, especially during the summer, so you’ll find many restaurants and cafés open until midnight.

Where to eat

St Tropez has an astounding array of eateries catering to all tastes and budgets. Those willing to splurge can find excellent restaurants in all of the luxury hotels and buildings with some of these venues offering excellent views of the old port and coastline. The main beaches have lots of cafés and restaurants lining their shores, and while the food is delicious, prices are not cheap. Those on a budget will find the best deals at market squares such as Place des Lices and Place aux Herbes. Rue Georges Clemenceau is also popular for its range of cuisine at affordable prices.
