Be Safe in Rennes

Rennes is a relatively safe place to travel, with few risks. However, all visitors should use common sense especially when at busy tourist attractions as there is the possibility that bag snatchers and pick pockets are operating.

Health

There are few specific health concerns for people travelling to Rennes, one of the most likely problems is sunburn or dehydration if you should go at the height of summer and get some particularly hot weather. If you plan to do a lot of sightseeing in the summer then make sure you wear a hat and drink plenty of water, and perhaps plan you day around a few visits to some of the city’s cafés.

Safety

Rennes, like France in general, is a relatively safe place to visit and common sense applies; when visit busy tourist attractions be sure to keep your bag close to you and consider leaving some of your valuable in a hotel safe. Likewise, if you hire a car don’t leave your valuables in it.

If you do decide to take the car hire option, then it is important to follow the road rules as you would at home. The law requires seat belts to be worn in the back as well as the front seats of the car. Speed limits can be strictly enforced and it just isn’t worth taking any risks.

Travel insurance

While few tourists experience any difficulties in Rennes, it is always possible that an accident can happen or damage to your belongings and it is strongly recommended that you take out a comprehensive travel insurance policy to ensure that any unfortunate incidents don’t ruin your holiday.

If you are a citizen of an EU country you are entitled to free medical care in France, if you have the required documentation. Otherwise you will find medical care can be very expensive. Visitors from other countries should ensure that their insurance policy has adequate health cover.
