Orleans has a continental climate, with the western coast being milder and experiencing very hot summer days. Average temperatures in summer often reach up to 25C, while winters are notoriously cold with chances of frost. The wettest month of the year is typically August, although unexpected rain showers occur throughout the year.
Spring through to autumn is usually the best time to visit Orleans. Summer temperatures range from mild to warm and heat waves are known to occur, especially in June and July. Harsh winds in winter may be uncomfortable for those not used to cold climates, with temperatures close to freezing point.
