Transportation to Nice
Nice has its own international airport that receives transatlantic flights, many flights from European countries as well as international flights. High-speed train services connect Nice with Paris witha traveling time of five hours. Regular trains also run from Nice to Marseilles, Milan, Genoa, Geneva and Barcelona. Alternatively, there are ferry services provided to Mediterranean destinations arriving and departing from the port in Antibes, located 30 minutes away by train from Nice. What to see
Many architectural splendours can be found in Nice. The notable one is the Russian Orthodox Cathedral with its six impressive onion domes. Baroque architecture is shown in the form of many exquisite churches and cathedrals in Nice including the Cathdrale Sainte Rparate, Saint-Franois-de-Paule, Saint-Martin-Saint-Augustin and Chapelle de la Misricorde. Visit Cimiez, the hilly northern suburb behind the city to seethe impressive ruins of the ancient city of Cemenelum and a monastery dating back to the 16th century. The medieval village of Peillon is also worth stoppingat for an insight into the history of the city. Beach lovers should head to Antibes, located nearby,to enjoy the sun and sea. Another place not to be missed, if you have some time to spare, is Cannes. Cannes is thehost forthe annual film festival and is also the place to spot Hollywood stars wandering around in the city. Saint Tropez is also worth checking out as it is home to many first-class resorts. Celebrities and jet-setters can also be spotted in Monaco where Casino Royale, Castle Rock and an aquarium are situated. Alternatively, you can stop by Avignon, a historic town and Arles, located on the Rhne River boasting its fine Roman history and remarkable architecture.
Activities and leisure
In the daytime, you can take a stroll around Cours Saleya while admiringthe colourful flower and vegetable markets. The belle poque Opra House can be found nearbyand you can witness many outstanding performances there. Walking long the palm-lined Promenade des Anglais, you can see the art deco Palais de la Mditerrane Casino and Htel Negresco, two of the main tourist attractions in the area.
Safety issues
