Be Safe in Montpellier
Unlike most major cities in France, Montpellier is quite safe. Reports of petty theft or crime are uncommon yet you should still remain cautious wherever you go. Pharmacies and medical centres are on hand for those with health complaints.
Safety
As the city is quite safe, you do not need to be on guard at all times. However, walking on the streets at night on your own, especially if you are a woman, can make you an easy target. There are many water activities at the beaches which can put you at risk. Leaving your precious belongings at the hotel and not carrying a lot of cash with you are good ways to keep safe.
Health
There are no major health risks in Montpellier. The weather is never too hot or too cold, but if you aren’t used to the heat, make sure you drink a lot of water. Seafood can cause diarrhea if not well-cooked.
Travel insurance
Unexpected incidents can be costly and ruin your holiday. Even though Montpellier is considered quite safe, you should still be mindful of your own safety. It is highly recommended that you take out travel insurance for you and your family before making a trip here.
