Restaurants In Marseille

Marseilles multiculturalism is probably most exemplified by the stunning variety of cuisine on offer at eateries throughout the city. Almost very different type of ethnic cooking can be found around the town and the establishments here range from the most luxurious restaurants to cheap market food stalls. Of course, being a proudly independent French city, Marseille also has several of its own unique dishes.

Local cuisine

Two dishes that visitors to Marseille must sample are the traditional local favourites, bouillabaisse and ratatouille. Bouillabaisse is a seafood soup that can consist of a variety of fish, crabs and squid, and features plenty of tomatoes, whereas Ratatouille is a heartier vegetable stew. Also popular is tapenade, a paste that can be made from different ingredients but usually includes olives, anchovies and garlic. For a taste of northern Africa, try the mechoui, a traditional Arab dish that consists of either chicken or lamb served with vegetables.
