Be Safe in Deauville

Deauville is a safe place to visit and isn't blighted by the levels of crime that affect many European towns and cities. With a dedicated tourist infrastructure and a conscientious local police force, visitors will feel safe throughout most parts of the town during the day or at night.

Safety

With regards to safety in Deauville, visitors need not be especially concerned, as levels of violent crime are not considered to be high. As with any tourist destination, however, there are miscreants who target visitors knowing that they are invariably carrying cash, cameras and other items of value. Minimise the opportunities of would-be pickpockets and bag-snatchers by keeping purses and wallets in front pockets or by keeping cash in a concealed money belt, and wear your bag strap over your head, or on both shoulders if its a backpack.

Health

There are minimal concerns to health of visitors to Deauville, and those experiencing illness or discomfort often do so as a result of over-exposure to either the sun or too much of the local wine, beer or apple brandy. Obviously, both of these scenarios are entirely avoidable with a little common sense and self-discipline. Tap water presents no problems, although visitors may find bottled water, which is cheap and readily available, more palatable.

Travel insurance

In spite of sensible behaviour and due diligence, visitors may still find themselves experiencing loss, damage or theft of personal items or cash. While these are unfortunate scenarios, the impact can be lessened if you have made an effort to take out holiday insurance. A good travel insurance policy will ensure that youre not left out of pocket should you experience anything untoward.

EU visitors invariably qualify for free medical treatment in France (be sure to get the relevant documentation before travelling), while visitors from other countries should make sure their holiday insurance has some provision for medical care.
