In terms of spectator sports, Cannes is fairly bereft of options and visitors will struggle to find anything for viewing other than events at locally competitive levels.
French tennis is one of Cannes’ favourite sports and some 16 clubs with 130 courts can be found across the city. Competitions do take place, but largely these venues are private and open to members only although there are some municipal clubs available. Visitors wanting to play a little tennis themselves can head for the Tennis municipal la Bastide Rouge on avenue Francis Tonner. Golf fans meanwhile will find municipal facilities at Golf de la Grande Bastide on chemin des Picholines.

The beach is the ideal place to catch some sporting activity with windsurfing, scuba diving and water skiing among the various sports on offer. Visitors looking for a fitness session will find gymnasiums in most of the major hotels. These are generally free to guests staying at the hotels and available to everybody else for a small fee.
