If you decide to stay in Calais itself, there is plenty of accommodation available, although it can be a bit difficult finding a room during the high season if you haven’t booked ahead. The tourist office offers a free booking service for all types of accommodation, and is located at 12 boulevard Clemenceau. From June to August, the office is open from Monday through Saturday from 09:00 to 19:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00; and from September to May on Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:30.

Of the available options, the inexpensive Albert is the only hotel in town with sea views, although it can be a bit noisy. The Hotel Bristol is on rue du Duc de Guise, just off rue Royale. It’s a simple but pleasant place to stay. On the canal between the Town Hall and the tourist office is the Métropol. This is a comfortable and modern hotel adjacent to the train station.

A bit more upscale is the Hotel Meurice on rue Edmond-Roche. It’s a comfortable three-star hotel furnished with antique furniture and located on a quiet street just behind the Musée des Beaux-Arts.
