Bordeaux Weather

Bordeaux generally has a warm Mediterranean climate with mild winters, hot summers and a relatively high level of humidity throughout the year.

Summer

The nearby Atlantic Ocean has a major influence on the temperature range between day and night, which ensures pleasantly mild temperatures at any time of the year. Cool nights in the summer are one reason why this region is ideal for wine growing.

Winter

Winters are short and not too cold, though the air can often feel damp. Summers are pleasantly warm with lots of sunshine, humidity and tourists. For five weeks around the end of July through August, the entire country of France goes on vacation, making conditions crowded and hectic. Spring is probably the best time to visit Bordeaux, as the weather is fine and all the trees and flowers burst into bloom. Autumn’s clear, crisp weather is also a great time to visit, but most of the wineries close in October during the grape harvest, which puts a damper on that aspect of a visit at this time of year.
