Biarritz Weather

The climate of coastal areas of France such as Biarritz is heavily influenced by the Atlantics weather system and in a nutshell, this means that the city experiences mild and temperate weather conditions throughout the year. Biarritz has the highest winter temperatures of any French city, while its summers are hot but not excessively so and are made considerably more bearable by the cool Atlantic breezes it experiences.

Seasonal variations

Average temperatures in the months from November to February are around the 8C, with highs of around 12C. Rainfall during this season is heavier in the earlier months, with an average of around 6.5 millimetres, dropping to between 4.5 to 5 millimetres in the latter months. Summer highs are around 22C to 24C and rainfall is from 4 to 5 millimetres.

Summer is an ideal time to visit Biarritz, especially if its a beach holiday you are interested in; however, the temperature is cool enough to be suitable for sightseeing also if thats your agenda. Winter is not really beach season, although it may be a good time to visit if you are looking to escape a chilly British winter season or one in an equally cold European city.
