Be Safe In Biarritz
Biarritz is an extremely safe place to visit with low crime rates and a completely comfortable atmosphere in which to walk around both day and night. It also has the advantage of not posing any particular health risks to visitors.
Safety
The usual warnings of muggers and pickpockets are offered only mildly with regards to this city and visitors avoiding obviously risky places such as unpopulated, unlit areas at night and keeping their wallets in front pockets should find themselves presented with very little in the way of threats.
Other dangers to watch out for include swimming on the beach when the conditions are considered high risk; this is indicated by red warning flags which should not be ignored.

Health
The weather during the summer can lead you into a false sense of security, as the Atlantic breezes mask the suns true heat. Dont be fooled into thinking you can get away with over-exposing yourself or without using sunscreen with an SPF appropriate to your skin type; lobsters of the holidaymaking variety are a common sight on Biarritzs main beach.
The water in Biarritz is perfectly safe to drink although if you are a UK resident, you may find its taste somewhat unpleasant, in which case you can drink the cheap and readily available bottled variety. As with most big EU cities, Biarritzs hygiene levels are high in dining and drinking establishments and you run no more risk of getting food poisoning than you might at home.
Should you fall sick or have an accident of some description while on holiday, as an EU resident, youll get free medical treatment provided your country has a reciprocal agreement with France and you have the relevant documentation.
