What to see
Copenhagen gives visitors the chance to discover a city with a rich culture, one that is steeped in history and heritage. Landmarks, classical buildings, museums and examples of fine architecture are omnipresent and sightseers will be in their element at attractions such as Rosenborg Castle and Christiansborg. Art lovers shouldnt miss a chance to check out the Museum of Decorative and Applied Art.
If you prefer something a little more upbeat, then Tivoli, in the heart of the city, provides fairground rides, live entertainment and countless dining options. The citys proximity to the water also gives visitors who are fond of nature a chance to enjoy the sea, sand and plenty of pleasant coastal scenery. With historical, natural and manmade attractions on hand, whatever youre into, Copenhagen has something to offer.
Daytrips
Opportunities for daytrips from Copenhagen are plentiful, especially with Sweden being no more than a bridge length away. Visitors can be in Malm or Lund within 30 minutes of leaving Copenhagen, and once there, they will find all the attractions of Swedish culture at their fingertips. Daytrips within Denmark itself include the Port of Dragr and Hven plus organised tours such as the Hamlet and Viking tours.
Activities and leisure
If youre feeling active then you can play golf, take a workout at a local leisure centre or head to the water for a spot of kayaking. If youd prefer to relax while others get hot, sweaty and tired then catch a Copenhagen FC football game at the Parken national arena or check out a local gymnastics competition.
Safety issues
Safety issues are minimal in Copenhagen on account of the citys low crime rate. The single biggest concern for visitors is being targeted by pickpockets, who maintain a presence here as much as in any big city. Sensible behaviour with regards to storage of cash and valuables can dramatically reduce your chances of being a victim.
Some activities that you wouldnt normally participate in back home may carry inherent risks to physical safety and we recommend that you have adequate travel insurance covering you for eventualities such as accidents, theft, damage and loss of property.
