Copenhagen Leisure
In terms of sport and leisure activities, Copenhagen is on a par with any other European capital in terms of the opportunities and facilities it offers. There are a large number of clubs, societies and associations, giving countless opportunities for either spectating or participating in sporting or leisure activities. As most Danes speak really good English, you should have no problems getting access to such organisations provided they don’t operate strict member-only policies.
Spectator sports
If you fancy catching a game of football during your stay in Copenhagen, then the city’s resident team ‘Football Club København’ (Copenhagen FC) play games at the Parken national arena, a facility with a capacity for over 42,000 spectators.
Alternatively, gymnastics is the country’s second most popular sport after football and you may well be able to catch an event at one of the city’s gymnastics clubs or municipal sports centres. Check with the Copenhagen office of the Danish Tourist Board for more information (tel: +45 32 88 99 23).

Golfers will find good opportunities to indulge their passion during their visit with the combined Copenhagen and Nordsjælland area offering some 25 golf courses. Three of the courses in the immediate Copenhagen area are open for non-members, while the Copenhagen Indoor Golf Centre, with its 130-metre long driving range, is ideal for some practice when the weather is bad.
Meanwhile, fitness centres across the city offer those who like to stay in shape, the chance to workout, with municipal leisure centres offering pay-as-you-go options for tourists. Hotels of repute often have their own fitness centres available free to guests.
