Getting Around In Aarhus
One of the most popular ways to get around Aarhus is by bicycle. The city is ideally laid out for cycling and walking, with its special bike lanes and pedestrianised city centre. There are plenty of bike rental shops around town or you can use the coin-operated bike racks which dispense bikes in the same way supermarket trolleys are dispensed. The public transportation system in Aarhus is not the easiest to navigate, so you may find that walking works best. Taxis are readily available on the streets.
By bus
The public bus system is rather difficult to work out in a short period of time. The system mainly handles a route which covers the outskirts of town and may not be very useful when visiting the main attractions. A regular bus ticket can be bought on the rear platform of all city buses for a single ride, but tickets are not cheap.
A tourist ticket is a better deal if you plan to take more than three trips in a day. The 24-hour ticket offers unlimited rides throughout the city and includes a 2 hour, 30 minute guided tour of Aarhus. Tourist tickets can be bought at the tourist office or at newsstands for a reasonable price.

Taxis
Taxis are a convenient way to get around the city. They can be hailed along the street or called for in advance. Two of the main taxi companies include Aarhus Taxi (tel: +45 89 48 48 48) and Taxa Motor (tel: +45 70 33 83 38).
Tourist services
The Aarhus Pass allows unlimited travel on the city’s public transportation and includes free admission to many of the museums and attractions. The pass can be purchased at the tourist office (tel: +45 89 40 67 00) and at many hotels and newsstands around the city. You can buy a two-day or one-week pass.
From the airport
There are a few choices to get from the airport to the city centre. One of the most convenient is the SAS Airport Taxi, a door-to-door service which will take you anywhere in Aarhus. However, you must be a passenger of SAS and there’s a maximum of two passengers per taxi. Only cash payments are accepted for the SAS Airport Taxi. Regular taxis are also available for all visitors. They wait outside the Arrivals Hall or can be called at: +45 89 48 48 43.
A less expensive option is to take the airport bus, which runs between the terminal and the train station in Aarhus, stopping at a couple of predetermined stops along the way. The bus schedule corresponds to the main flight arrivals and leaves from outside the Arrivals Hall. Tickets are sold on the bus and credit cards are accepted.
