Be Safe in Paphos

Paphos is on the southwest corner of Cyprus and is generally a very safe place with low crime rates and few public health concerns. For many visitors, bottled water is a must due to the sulphuric tang of the local water supply, which is safe to drink despite smelling and tasting a little strange.

The great mix of tourists from many countries means there is a slight risk of catching something if your vaccinations are not current, and a hepatitis A shot is a good idea if you plan to eat on the cheap. Another potential danger is the summer heat, with sunstroke and dehydration possible consequences of not consuming adequate liquids during the day and at night.

Safety

The main risk to tourists in Paphos is other tourists, rather than locals. In Paphos, crime is so rare that people still leave their homes unlocked at all times. However, tourist areas and accommodation often have incidents of theft, and fights are not uncommon along Bar street late at night. Take normal precautions with your belongings and stay away from any tense bar situations.
