Getting to Paphos

Although Paphos is a port city, there are no direct ferry services and visitors must arrive by air or land. The city has a small international airport that serves mainly chartered flights, but Larnaca International Airport is within easy travelling distance (1 hour). Comfortable highways connect Paphos with major cities and towns across western Cyprus. Ferries arrive at Limassol, from where travellers can take a bus to Paphos.

By car

Paphos is quickly accessed by road from other Cypriot cities. The B6 highway connects the city with Larnaca and Limassol, while the B7 leads north to Polis, providing fast travel to the famous Akamas Peninsula region. A great scenic drive to the Akamas Peninsula is provided by route E701/709, which leads to Polis and connects with the E713.

By bus

A network of bus routes operated by KEMEK link all cities and towns in the western half of Cyprus. Services to main cities depart hourly from the main bus station on Fellahoglou street. Another company, Fontana Amoroza, runs frequent services between Paphos and Polis.

By ferry

Limassol is the port for ferries arriving from Athens, Crete, Patmos and Rhodes as well as from Israel. Paphos is a one-hour drive from Limassol for those renting a car; buses can take considerably longer.

By air

Visitors arriving by air have two options when flying to Paphos. They can take a charter flight and arrive at Paphos International Airport, or take one of the regular scheduled flights that land at nearby Larnaca International Airport. Both airports have good ground transportation options to Paphos city.

Paphos International Airport

Located a quick 16kms from central Paphos, Paphos International Airport is small and compact. There are some regular scheduled daily flights, however, the majority of flights are charters from the UK and other western European countries, building to a peak during the summer holiday period, when the airport’s capacity is severely strained.

Destinations served include London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Exeter, Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow and Cardiff, while the main carriers are British Airways (GB Airways), Cyprus Airways, Ajet, First Choice Airways, FlyJet and Flyglobespan. Facilities and amenities at the airport include bars, a restaurant, café, bank, duty-free shops, retail outlets and parents’ rooms.

Paphos International Airport transportation

Paphos International Airport has regular shuttles that depart soon after scheduled arrivals, and most charter flights have private minibuses meeting them to take passengers directly to their lodgings. There are plenty of taxis on standby immediately outside Arrivals. Reputable international car rental companies such as Europcar and Hertz have representatives and small fleets at the airport.
