Nicosia Weather

Like most of Cyprus, Nicosia enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate with long, hot and dry summers and relatively mild winters, separated by short autumn and spring seasons.

Hot summers

During the summer months from May to August, the temperatures average 30C, although often reaching highs in the 40s during July and August. It can become uncomfortably hot for those not used to high temperatures and there is unlikely to be any rain during this period. It is essential that you always protect yourself from the sun with a suitable sun cream factor, as the suns intensity makes sunburn common. Avoid being out in the sun in the heat of the day, as sunstroke and dehydration can take hold quickly.

Winters are fairly mild, although temperatures can reach lows of just 5C during December and January. This is when Nicosia also experiences the most rainfall, so you will likely need some wet-weather clothing if visiting at this time of year. Spring is a good time to visit as the town isnt too busy with tourists and the weather is extremely pleasant, with manageable rainfall. Autumn is also a pleasant time, especially in September and early October, before things cool down for the winter.
