Weather In Dubrovnik

The climate in Dubrovnik is fairly typically Mediterranean, seeing hot, dry summers and mild wet winters. The best time for visiting depends very much on what kind of holiday you are planning and what kind of weather you prefer.

Summer

In the beginning of the summer (June), temperatures range from around 25ºC to 28ºC, but things get hotter as the season continues and by August, you can expect the mercury to easily be hitting 30ºC or higher perhaps. September is another hot month, with temperatures on a par with those of June. Rainfall during this season is low, at least during June, July and August when it rarely exceeds a monthly volume of 120mm; September is an exception and sees over double that figure with around 300mms being typical. June is a good time to visit Dubrovnik, as it’s not too hot or wet; however, if you are a real sun-worshipper then July and August are also good months.

Winter

Temperatures begin dropping most significantly at the end of November and by December, you can expect highs of around 10ºC. Things don’t stay cool for too long though and after January, which sees similar though perhaps slightly lower temperatures, the city begins to warm up again, with daily highs of around 12ºC in February and 15ºC in March.

Rainfall during the winter months is the highest of any season, with November seeing around 370mm and December around 350mm. However, figures drop in January, with averages of about 180mm. Winter is warm enough, but it may not be ideal in terms of the amount of rain Dubrovnik receives at this time. January is a good month to visit if you are looking to escape the icy cold temperatures typical of the UK and some other European countries.
