Be Safe in Brussels
Brussels is a typically large European city with all the usual health and safety safeguards. There are few health concerns for visitors to the city, however, they are advised to be up-to-date with standard vaccinations prior to travel.
Safety
While most districts of Brussels are safe even late at night, there are some areas that should be avoided or require caution. The Marolles district in particular has a reputation for roughness and while this lends to the charm of the area, it unfortunately means the district is unsafe to wander alone or even in small groups late at night. The same can be said for the areas surrounding the train and bus stations in the early hours of the morning.
Thieves patrol areas frequented by tourists, such as transport hubs (airport, train, bus and metro stations), main squares and markets, so be on the lookout for pickpockets, bag snatchers and the like.

Health
There are no particular health concerns, although care needs to be taken when eating at market food stalls, festivals or in neighbourhoods such as the Marolles, where food hygiene may not always be of the highest standard. A shot against hepatitis A may be worth getting prior to your visit if you plan on eating at the cheaper dining outlets. Drinking bottled water is also advised.
