Weather In Vienna

Vienna experiences a moderate continental climate throughout the year, with extreme temperatures a relatively rare occurrence. Sunshine figures clock in at 2,000 hours per year on average, while rainfall levels are fairly low with no more than nine days of precipitation per month.

Summers

Summers are not especially hot in Vienna and visitors wishing to see the city during the period from June to September will find the climate very comfortable, with temperatures rarely straying over 26ºC or under 20ºC. Rainfall during this period is higher than at other times of the year, but still low, with somewhere between 2.5 and 3 inches on average. The months either side of the summer are a little cooler, but they are still ideal for visiting.

Winters

From November to February, the temperatures drop but are still mild in comparison to many European cities. Daily highs can reach 7ºC, while lows only occasionally drop to freezing or below. If you’re planning a sightseeing holiday and you remember to pack some warm clothes, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t visit Vienna during the winter; however, sun worshippers are definitely best waiting for the summer months.
