Graz Transport
Public transportation in Graz is efficient and easy to use. Many of the city’s attractions can be seen on foot once you reach a certain area such as the Old Town or the Schlossberg. However, to get between areas, you will need some kind of transportation. Parking isn’t too bad in Graz, but you have to be aware of the many rules for when and where you can park your car.
The public streetcars have a lot of charm and can get you around the city with ease. The local bus system is okay, but is better suited for getting to a destination outside the city. Taxis can be hailed anywhere you can find one.
By train
The train station in Graz only handles trains coming in and out of the town. There is no rail service within the town itself.

By bus and streetcar
Graz City Transport operates an excellent streetcar and bus service throughout the city. Most of the charismatic streetcar lines intersect at the Jakominiplatz on the Mur River’s eastern bank and at the Griesplatz on the river’s western bank.
The public buses aren’t quite as effective as the streetcars for getting around the city, but they do handle an extensive route system. The public Postal buses are better used to reach destinations outside the city limits, where the streetcars don’t go. Taxis
Taxis in Graz are a very convenient way to get between places. Taxis can be hailed on the street or found at any of the city’s clearly marked taxi stands. The largest taxi stand is located in front of Central Station. You can also call ahead for a taxi by dialing 878, which is the phone number for the largest taxi company in Graz.
From the airport
There are only a few choices when it comes to transport between the airport and the city centre. The train is one option. There is a station 300 metres from the terminal which runs hourly trains to the city centre between 05:00 and 23:00. Public buses also run between the airport and Graz, but they aren’t very convenient and they don’t go to many places. Bus number 631 will take you to the train station in the city centre and to Hotel Weitzer, with services running six times each day from 05:10 until 19:00.
A privately-run white minivan service makes six trips a day between the terminal and the city. The cost is very cheap and the minivan company coordinates its departure times with arriving flights, but the trips don’t operate frequently, so you may be stuck waiting a long time for your ride.
The most convenient and quickest way to get to Graz from the airport is by taxi. Taxis are ready and waiting outside the Arrivals area of the terminal and are reasonably priced. Taxi drivers in Graz expect a 10 per cent tip.
