Kingston Weather

The climate in Kingston is mainly tropical, but it is influenced by the northeast trade winds and the central ridges of mountains and hills. The average temperature is about 27C, and there is usually a fresh sea breeze during the day and a cooler breeze from the mountains at night.

Winter

The weather in winter is very pleasant and as a result, this is the peak season for visitors to the island. Winter usually starts in the middle of December and lasts until the middle of April. There are strong breezes in the winter, making this the windiest time of the year in Jamaica.

Summer

The weather in the summer is enjoyable, as it is only a few degrees warmer than it is in the winter. Nevertheless, this is not the favoured season for tourists and the price of accommodation can drop from between 20 to 50 per cent. Kingston is also quieter during this period, making it an agreeable time to visit if you want to avoid the tourist crowds.

Autumn
Autumn is considered to be the rainy season, but showers are brief and almost immediately followed by sunshine. There are few overcast days during this period, and you should come prepared to get wet.
