Darwin Leisure
With Darwin enjoying a climate perfect for outdoor sports and activities as well as the sea so close by, there is a wide variety of sports and leisure activities to choose from.
Fishing
The ‘top end’ of the Northern Territory is nothing short of a fishing paradise. It is the home of Australia's premier fresh water sport fish, the Barramundi, or ‘Barra’ for short. Each year, thousands of anglers from around Australia and the world travel to Darwin and the ‘top end’ in search of Barramundi. This hunt has generated a flourishing Barra fishing tour industry and Darwin now has many top quality accredited fishing guides to help beginners and experts alike find a Barra.
While the Barramundi is definitely a popular target species for anglers, the ‘top end’ also has some marvellous blue water sports fishing available and an expanding charter boat fleet ready to take anglers to the best fishing grounds.
