The Ghan leaves Adelaide twice a week for Alice Springs, and once a week for the full journey to Darwin. It covers a distance of 2,979kms and takes two nights.
If you’re wondering about the railway’s name, legend has it that it was named in honour of the Afghan cameleers, who pioneered this land in the 19th century.
