The Connector City Loop Bus provides free bus travel around many areas of Adelaide and North Adelaide, and offers regular buses every 30 minutes. The City Loop Bus is an extremely popular method of getting around in Adelaide and has cut down the number of cars on the road.
Buses are also available to take people on longer journeys to many of Adelaide's suburban areas. Timetables can be picked up at the TransAdelaide Information Bureau and tickets can be used on buses, trains and trams, with daily tickets offering the best value for money.
Taxis
Taxis are one of the most convenient and hassle-free ways to travel around Adelaide. Most taxis in the city can be hailed from the street or found at one of the numerous taxi ranks. They are usually excellent value, as they are all metered, and your hotel will be able to recommend a reputable firm, should you be in any doubt. For longer journeys, it is recommended that you book in advance.
Tourist services
The city of Adelaide is home to a scenic and historic tram route. This is a very popular option for tourists who are travelling around the city centre. The tram route stops at many of the major tourist attractions as well as connecting the city with the coast.
From the airport
There are many ways to get from Adelaide Airport into the city centre. Airport buses wait for passengers outside of Arrivals. The buses leave every 30 minutes and make the short journey into the city. If you are travelling to the surrounding suburbs, you will also find buses that serve these routes.
Numerous taxis can be found at taxi ranks on the forecourt outside the airport. They are very good value for money, but more importantly, they are convenient and offer a door-to-door service. The taxis are all metered, but they charge more for journeys made at night and on public holidays.
If you are booked into one of Adelaide’s many hotels, check whether a courtesy shuttle bus is available for airport transfers. Many of the larger hotels offer this service, but arrangements must be made in advance.
Many people choose to make their own way into the city and hire a car. Many international hire car companies can be found in the Arrivals area, offering great deals on cars. Hiring a car allows you to make the short journeys into the city at your own convenience and in the comfort of a private car.
