Bangkok Weather

The climate of Bangkok is tropical, remaining uncomfortably hot and humid throughout the year, with daytime temperatures reaching the mid-30s. Bangkok has essentially three seasons: a mild and dry season, which extends from November to February; March to May sees the onset of the hot season; and the rainy season, which extends from June to October.

November to May

November to February is the driest time of year in Bangkok, and is understandably the most popular period with tourists. However, the city is oppressively hot between the months of March and May, with the extremely high humidity making it feel hotter than it is. The best time to visit is during the dry season, between November and March.

June to October

The rainy season extends from June to October, but downpours are usually heaviest in September. This is the famous Thai monsoon that brings in sporadic bouts of torrential rainfall. After two or three minutes of a massive deluge, the rain usually stops. During the wet season, short showers are likely during the afternoon, though on some days it will rain all day. Humidity is very high, the downpours are short but violent and the streets of Bangkok often flood.
