Kuala Lumpur Weather

KL is hot year-round and experiences high levels of humidity, as much as 82 per cent, making sightseeing sticky and uncomfortable at times. Things cool down a little in the wetter months (March to April and September to November), but for the most part, visitors will want to regularly cool themselves off in an air conditioned mall or hotel.

Rainfall

Rainfall occurs throughout the year, with the periods between March to April and September to November seeing the most rainfall, but an amount that is not remarkably different from other times of the year. Short-lived heavy downpours can occur at any time, so it is best to come prepared with an umbrella and rain coat whatever time you choose to visit.

Year-round heat

The year-round heat and humidity can prove testing for some visitors, particularly the older generation, who may take some time to acclimatise. Average daytime temperatures reach 30°C and there is rarely any let up at night, with temperatures remaining high.

We recommend you book an air-conditioned room and use air-conditioned transport to beat the heat and avoid going out in the middle of the day, when the sun is at its strongest. If the heat gets to you, try a short trip to one of the cooler hill stations easily accessible from KL.
