Bali Leisure
The beaches and surf of Bali have drawn tourists and sports enthusiasts for years. But further attractions lie inland, where the mountains and jungles beckon adventurers and hikers. It’s an ideal destination for an active holiday, and due to its compactness, everything is easily accessible.
Surfing
Bali is one of the world’s top surfing destinations, offering reliable sets, affordable living and warm water. The most popular areas are at Kuta and around Nusa Dua on the southern coast. Kuta is a good environment for beginners due to the gentle breaks, and surfing instruction is available at the beach. There are also some gentle lagoon breaks around the island, which are suitable for learners. More experienced surfers are drawn to Bukit Peninsula, situated in southwest Bali. This is the location of some of the area’s most famous waves including the colourfully named Bingin, Impossibles and Uluwatu.

Diving
Diving in Bali is a wonderful experience, due to the remarkable ocean formations, coral reefs, marine life and tepid tropical waters. You can indulge in wreck diving and drift diving, while beginners can undertake a diving course or complete a full PADI certification. You can dive year-round due to the consistently warm weather, though the rainy season isn’t the best time of year to dive, as storms can reduce visibility.
The most popular diving spots are Nusa Lembongan, Amed, Sanur, Gili Tepekong, Menjangan Island and Tulamben.
Hot springs
The island is a paradise for lovers of spas and hot springs. Air Panjar, near Lovina, is a popular hot spring, where you can indulge in many different spa treatments. The hot geothermal waters pass into pools set in a relaxing tropical garden, where you can relax and unwind. Treatments include body scrubs with spices and herbs as well as Balinese oil massage.
