Transportation to Bangalore

Set in a convenient location, Bangalore is easily accessed by various means of transport. Many tourists travel to Bangalore by air. Bangalore Airport, located about eight kilometres from MG Road, is a domestic airport that also receives many flights from other countries including major cities in Asia and Europe. From the airport, you can take a taxi, which wait outside and charge a fixed amount depending on your destination.

Alternatively, you can also arrive at Bangalore by rail. Bangalore is well-served by train services which arrive and depart at the Bangalore City Railway Station, located in the heart of the city. There is also a new rail terminal, the Yeswantpur Railway Station, conveniently located near the main station. Train services between Bangalore and other cities in India are frequent. Another railway station is situated in the Cantonment area, located in the city centre. At present many trains do not stop at this station. However,the station will serve as the main station in Bangalore in the future.

Buses also run between Bangalore and major cities in South India. The main bus stand is located opposite the main train station. There are frequent buses operating both inner and outer-state services.

Boasting many interesting places to visit, Bangalore perfectly blends natural sites and architectural splendours. Those who want to visit notable temples in Bangalore should head to the Sri Banashankari Amma Temple, one of the most popular temples in the city, located near the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus-stand and the Bull Temple. The temple features a huge granite bull statue dedicated to Lord Shivas vehicle.

The State Archaeological Museum is also worth visiting if you want to learn more about the history of Bangalore while marvelling at great collections of coins, old paintings, inscriptions, sculptures and excavated items.

Nature-lovers should head to Bannerghatta National Park where you can observe wild animals in their natural habitat. While the Serpentarium, which features many kinds of snakes, may make you jump. In the centre of Bangalore, Cubbon Park, one of the most charming parks in the city, unveils hundreds of flower beds, bowers, trees full of bloom and cool, shady areas.

Heading out of Bangalore, you will see exquisite countryside where you can admire the stunning views of forests and lush-green mountains. You can find a few national parks and charming waterfalls within driving distance of Bangalore. Make a stop and take time to go in for a dip.
