Sri Banashankari Amma Temple

Located on the Kanakapura Road near the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus-stand, the Sri Banashankari Amma Temple is one of the most popular temples in Bangalore. The temple was named after the goddess Banashankari. Boasting beautiful architecture, this temple is also particularly significant in Bangalore, as people believe that hardships and poverty will be removed by worshipping this deity.

The Bull Temple

This temple was built by the citys home-grown architect, Kempe Gowda. One of the most visited temples in Bangalore, the Bull Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva's vehicle, Nandi the bull. Visitors will be greeted by a statue of a huge bull, which was carved from one single granite block. About 15 feet tall and over 200 feet long, the statue is one of the main attractions for tourists who visit this temple.

Shiva Temple

Famous for its majestic 65-foot open-air statue of Lord Shiva, this temple is located behind the famous Kemp fort. People also visit Shiva Temple to see the holy cave that houses beautifully decorated Jyotir Lingas, fiery phallus emblems of the god Shiva. There is also a wishing pool where you can drop a coin in the pool and chant Om Namah Shivaya' seven times for your wish to come true.

The State Archaeological Museum

Also known as Government Museum, this interesting museum, located close to the High Court, was built in the distinctive red colour and European architectural style. The museum is one of the oldest museums in India, featuring fascinating collections of coins, old paintings, inscriptions, sculptures and many excavated items. Prepare to be taken into the ancient times of Bangalore and India as you wander around inside the museum.

Bangalore Palace

A magnificent architectural wonder, Bangalore Palace, located right in the heart of the city, has a romantic atmosphere with the majestic setting surrounded by beautiful gardens. Built in 1887 in Tudor style, the palace was based on inspiration from Windsor Castle in London. Very famous for its carved woodwork and paintings, the palace welcomes visitors to come and see the elegant structure of the palace and observe occasional exhibitions and cultural programmes in the palace grounds.

Cubbon Park

A gigantic grassed area in the centre of Bangalore, Cubbon Park, features hundreds of charming flower beds, bowers, trees and shady areas. Many people come to admire the beauty of the nature, which can be easily accessed from the heart of the city. There are also many impressive buildings in the area including the Attara Kacheri (Karnataka High Court), the Visveswaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Government Museum, Aquarium, Venkatappa Art Gallery and Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall. An amusement park, Bal Bhavan, is also located here.

Bannerghatta National Park

An interesting park to visit, Bannerghatta National Park offers you an opportunity to get a good look at wild animals in their natural habit. If you are lucky, you will get to see bisons, elephants, lions and panthers wandering around in the park. You can also visit a crocodile farm and the Serpentarium, an impressive snake farm. Located only 25kms from the heart of the city, this park promises to give you the ultimate safari experience.
