Cairo Weather
Two seasons
Cairo has two seasons, a very hot season and a ‘not so hot’ season. The cooler season is from September until April. January and February can be overcast with the occasional rain storm, while during March and April, strong, dry winds can blow in from the desert, causing the city to become very dusty. These storms are known as khamseen. Throughout the cooler season, you will feel a light breeze blowing across the city. This can make the days feel a lot fresher and more bearable.
The hot season
As Egypt is surrounded by desert, Cairo gets very dry and dusty, especially during a khamseen and the hot season. The low humidity helps to make the heat more bearable, making the best time to visit Cairo from October to March. Temperatures during the summer can reach a stiflingly hot 38°C.
