Airport Transfer Advice
Transfers can be a bit of a nightmare if you are not fully prepared. Often the journey is very long and can be a pretty uncomfortable experience. These resource pages aim to give you some useful hints and ideas when deciding on which method of transport to use to get you up the mountain.
There are several options you might want to consider when booking your transfer to and from your ski resort. Perhaps you would like to take a coach which is probably the cheapest option though this can be very uncomfortable winding around the mountain. You will also be dropped at the coach station which may not be close to your accommodation.
You may be interested in renting a car from the airport to your ski resort however bear in mind the added costs of petrol and the hassle of snow chains which are notorious for being very fiddly! You may also want to find out whether there is free parking in resort or whether you will have to pay for a car park. Please also remember to check on your car at various intervals throughout your holiday, especially after heavy snowfall. Take note of where you parked as you don’t want to spend you last day digging someone else’s car out by mistake!
A taxi from the airport/station is likely to be expensive but at least you don’t waste time waiting for fellow passengers to collect their luggage and you get a door to door service. Make sure you book the correct size taxi to accommodate all your luggage and equipment.
If you’re travelling by train to your chosen destination you will probably still need to hop on a coach or taxi before you reach your accommodation. You could avoid the rush at the station and book in advance to ensure you have a seat; alternatively you might want to book once you’ve arrived as there may be delays along your journey which could mean you miss the coach you’ve already pre-paid for.
Whatever mode of transport you use to get up the mountain, try and relax and enjoy the views rather than worrying about those hairpin bends!
