Travel to Winter Park with ski insurance from Essential Travel

The resort boasts a number of restaurants and ski-in/ski-out lodging, as well as childcare and conference facilities, tailored ski lessons, and ski and snowboard hire. The resort features a bustling, action-packed atmosphere as the crowds head for their favourite mountain and the unique runs on offer. There are a total of 134 trails to choose from, spread over 1,122 hectares of skiable terrain and serviced by 24 lifts. Nine per cent of the runs are rated easy, 34 per cent intermediate, 54 per cent difficult, and three per cent for experts only; while the longest run is a whopping 8.2kms.

There are several ski-in/ski-out lodging options available slope-side, while various other types of accommodation for a range of budgets are on offer in the nearby town of Winter Park. A huge variety of restaurants catering for all tastes can be found in town, with several more slope-side. A number of pubs and bars on the mountain and in town provide live entertainment.

The ski season runs from mid-November to mid-April, with the cheapest times from opening day until December 17, and again from March 28 until closing day. Winter Park is 144kms west of Denver International Airport and is serviced by a door-to-door shuttle service.


Skiing in Winter Park

Skiing in Winter Park resort is a mind-blowing experience due to the near endless variety of trails spread over five scenic peaks and smothered in some of the deepest snowfall in Colorado. All skill levels are catered for, with trails ranging from wide-open cruisers to steep, deep mogul runs.

There are three terrain parks, graded from easy to expert. The exciting Parsenn Bowl is located above the tree-line and reveals spectacular vistas.

Winter Park ski resort is one of the most popular resorts in Colorado and is easily accessible at just over 100kms northwest of Denver. Transportation to Winter Park

Winter Park ski resort is situated just over 100kms northwest of Denver off I-70. The drive is a very scenic one, with car hire and shuttle services available from Denver International Airport. The Ski Train is a popular alternative.

If driving from Denver, take I-70 west to highway 40 (exit 232), which takes you over Berthoud Pass to Winter Park. The total distance is 107kms and takes just over an hour.

The Ski Train is the largest passenger train in the US, transporting passengers daily to and from Denver and Winter Park through some truly spectacular scenery. It departs Denver at 07:15 and arrives in Winter Park at 09:30; it leaves Winter Park for Denver at 16:15, arriving at 18:30. Amtrak also offers a daily service between Denver and Fraser/Winter Park aboard the California Zephyr route.

Denver International Airport is one of the busiest in the world, servicing flights to and from all major North American destinations as well as a direct service to and from London Heathrow with British Airways. Car hire is available at the airport, as is a direct shuttle service to Winter Park.

Greyhound offers a Denver–Winter Park service, with departures from Denver bus terminal.
