Cross-country skiers revel in the flat expanse on top of Grand Mesa, which includes 19kms of groomed trails and breathtaking views. Snowboarders are catered for with a fully-equipped terrain park. The Inn at Wildwood provides slope-side accommodation at various rates, while the resort’s two restaurants offer a wide choice of meals, as well as a 100-seat capacity conference room. The Children’s Learning Center offers private and group lessons, childcare facilities, and ski rental. The ski season runs from early December through to early April, with the best months being January until March. Powderhorn is situated 56kms southeast of Grand Junction along I-70, where Walker Field Airport services daily flights from Denver International Airport. Après-ski in PowderhornThe Inn at Wildwood offers 29 rooms and one three-bedroom condominium to suit different budgets and is located mountain-side for unbeatable convenience. Two restaurants offer varying cuisine to suit most tastes, while the Children’s Learning Center offers special ski programmes for 3- to 7-year-olds.For a break from the slopes, visit Colorado National Monument, located 35kms to the west, for breathtaking canyon vistas, or Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park to the southeast, for its spectacular sheer cliff walls and startling depths. Transportation in PowderhornPowderhorn ski resort is located on the slopes of Grand Mesa, the largest flat top mountain in the world, 56kms southeast of Grand Junction in western Colorado. The best form of transportation is via air, with daily flights from Denver International Airport to Walker Field Airport in Grand Junction. From there, it’s a scenic 40-minute drive to the slopes.If driving from Denver, follow I-70 west towards Grand Junction. The Powderhorn exit (exit 49) is about 56kms before Grand Junction and this takes you on to highway 65 (Grand Mesa Scenic Byway). Follow this for another 32kms through the town of Mesa; Powderhorn is located on the right, on the ascent to Grand Mesa. The total distance from Denver is 399kms. Amtrak provides a daily rail service from Denver and Salt Lake City to Grand Junction, aboard the California Zephyr, one of the most stunning train trips in North America. Denver International Airport is one of the busiest in the world, with flights to and from all major North American cities as well as direct flights to and from London Heathrow via British Airways. Connecting flights are available to and from Walker Field Airport in Grand Junction, where car hire is available for the drive up to Grand Mesa and Powderhorn resort.
