Travel to Attitash with ski insurance from Essential Travel

Attitash offers an enormous number of runs, great snowboarding facilities and separate area for less experienced visitors, provide all that is expected of a top class resort.

Attitash is fully equipped with a range of lodging options, and the ski resort has all manner of facilities to ensure maximum convenience to its guests. The surrounding Mount Washington Valley area is a popular tourist destination that buzzes with activity, with non-stop fun to be had both day and night.

The two mountains that make up the ski resort are known as Attitash and Bearpark, and together comprise 70 slopes, including a longest run of four kilometres. Beginners have 20 per cent of all trails, intermediates 47 per cent and advanced skiers 33 per cent. The ski runs are linked by 12 lifts, with an impressive uplift capacity of 14,385 people per hour.

There is a wide range of accommodation in inns, lodges and motels, both in the resort and the surrounding areas. Over 200 tax-free shops in Mount Washington Valley will keep retail junkies happy in off-slope hours. Additionally, Attitash offers a full range of winter alternatives to skiing, including: snowshoeing, ice-fishing, ice-skating, indoor tennis, mountaineering, movies, sledding, sleigh rides, swimming, snowmobiling and racquetball. Après-ski is provided by a vibrant collection of restaurants and bars, and childcare and first-aid amenities are also available.

The lengthy ski season at Attitash extends from early November to late April. The most convenient means of accessing the resort is by flying to Portland (Maine) and hiring a car to complete the journey.

Skiing in Attitash

Attitash is located in the Mount Washington Valley, in the Bartlett area of New Hampshire, and presents an enormous range of skiing and snowboarding options for novice, intermediate and advanced levels. Its two mountains, Attitash and Bearpark, cover a huge area of terrain, and the resort also boasts a giant half-pipe and exciting snow park.

The resort provides skiing for all ages and stages, with 70 trails and glades spread across its two mountains. These are split up among beginners (20 per cent), intermediates (47 per cent) and advanced skiers (33 per cent). Attitash has a system of 12 efficient lifts, with the ability to transport as many as 14,385 skiers per hour.

The longest downhill run at Attitash is four kilometres, but there is also cross-country and tree skiing available for more advanced skiers. The resort also boasts the longest pipe in New Hampshire and a thrilling terrain park.

Skiing is offered in Attitash from early November to late April, with reliable snow conditions throughout due to extensive snow cannon coverage. The simplest way to travel to the resort is to fly to Portland in Maine and continue by hire car.

Après-ski in Attitash

At Attitash, there is as much to do off the slopes as on them, with great shopping opportunities in over 200 duty-free stores in Mount Washington Valley. Alternatively, a wide range of non-skiing activities is offered by the resort, including: snowshoeing, ice-fishing, ice-skating, indoor tennis, mountaineering, movies, sledding, sleigh rides, swimming, snowmobiling and racquetball.

Lodging is plentiful, with several accommodation options situated in the resort itself, and many more within 13kms. Mount Washington Valley is permeated with excellent restaurants and lively bars, so those looking for nightlife won’t be disappointed. To ensure ultimate relaxation and peace of mind, childcare facilities and first-aid services are available.

Nearby Bretton Woods ski resort is a convenient alternative to the slopes at Attitash, and many other ski destinations are located slightly farther afield in the New Hampshire area. Alternatively, the Ham Arena in Conway offers superb opportunities for indoor ice-skating.

Transportation in Attitash

Attitash is situated in the Mount Washington Valley of Bartlett, New Hampshire, approximately three hours from Boston. The most convenient method of transportation to the resort is to fly to Portland (Maine) or Boston (Massachusetts) and hire a car to complete the journey to Attitash.

If you fly to Portland and hire a car, the resort can be accessed by taking route 95 north until exit 1 to route 302 west. Follow the signs for Mt Washington Valley/North Conway. In North Conway, route 302 west and route 16 north intersect and merge; from there, continue on route 16/302 north into Glen (New Hampshire). Take route 302 west and drive for just under five kilometres until you reach Attitash.

From Boston, take I-93 north and turn right on to highway 302. Continue past Bartlett until you come to Attitash. The distance between the two points is approximately 225kms.

Amtrak trains serve both Boston and Portland. Between Bostons North station and Portland, the Amtrak Downeaster travels through Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. From either city, you can transfer by road to Attitash resort.

The easiest way to reach the resort is to fly to Portland in Maine, or alternatively Boston Logan Airport. Taxis and limousines provide transportation from Portland International Airport to Attitash. From Boston North train station, a service runs to Portland, which is closer to the resort.
