The Val Di Fassa resort combines seven resorts into one unforgettable ski experience set among majestic backdrops. The majority of visitors stay at the residences in Campitello and Canazei, making these places the busiest at the resort. Although typically Italian in atmosphere and character, Val Di Fassa has retained links to its roots and the ancient Ladin language is still spoken here.

A stupefying 1,200kms of ski runs – the largest in the world, are accessible from Val Di Fassa, serviced by an incredible 478 lifts. The resort itself has 120kms of pistes over 75 different runs, with the longest being seven kilometres. The runs are split between levels of difficulty, with beginners getting 30 runs, intermediates getting 41 and experts receiving four runs. Fifty-seven lifts service Val Di Fassa, with an uplift capacity of 98,000 skiers per hour. The resort is located at 1,440m above sea level, with the highest lift reaching 2,950m.

The resort of Santa Cristina is linked by lift to the resort and makes an interesting daytrip; however, with so many other resorts in the same area and a pass that allows access to all of them, the visitor really is spoilt for choice.

The ski season at Val Di Fassa runs from December to April, with stunning conditions all season. Children up to eight years old get free accommodation and ski passes; with children from 8 to 12 years getting half-price passes. Val Di Fassa is 80kms from the nearest airport in Bolzano, which receives flights from London.

Skiing in Val Di Fassa

Val Di Fassa is one of the most impressive ski areas in the world, boasting spectacular views of the famous Dolomites and access to an overwhelming 1,200kms of ski slopes. The resort has an international clientele and is one of the most popular spots in Europe.

The season begins in late December and runs until April. Conditions are good all season and the resort offers tempting promotions such as free and half-price access and accommodation for children under 12.

Val Di Fassa is 80kms from the nearest airport in Bolzano, which receives flights from London. From Bolzano, a regular bus service is available to the resort with the SAD bus company. Alternatively, catch the Eurostar to Paris and connect with the Paris to Verona overnight train. Then transfer to the resort via local train to Bolzano, and bus service to Val Di Fassa.

Apres-ski in Val Di Fassa

The different localities in the Val Di Fassa area offer an array of accommodation possibilities, with everything from campsites to hotels catering for every budget. Dozens of fine restaurants serving outstanding cuisine, plus exciting après-ski options at bars and nightclubs, ensure that the resort upholds a high standard of entertainment. The resort also boasts some great options for children up to eight years, who get free accommodation and ski passes; while children between 8 and 12 years get half-price ski passes.

When you do manage to tear yourself away from the slopes, there is an impressive assortment of leisure activities to contemplate such as: parapenting, snowshoeing, ice-skating and skidoo, plus gym and sauna facilities, a swimming pool and numerous walking trails. Fine restaurants on and off the mountains provide top quality cuisine with some great wine collections, while nightclubs, bars, cafés and boutiques are all on offer.

Transportation to Val Di Fassa

Val Di Fassa is 80kms from the nearest airport in Bolzano, and is located in the Dolomite region of Italy. Getting there involves a combination of transport options, including air, rail and road. The most convenient is a flight to Bolzano close to the resort and a bus service from there to Val Di Fassa. Alternatively, you can catch a Eurostar from London or Kent and travel to Paris, connecting with the overnight train to Verona and then a local train to Bolzano.

By car, Val Di Fassa is 1,175kms (11 hours, 45 minutes) from Calais, with road tolls costing €50. The route will take you through France, Germany and Austria before reaching the resort. If you fly to Bolzano and choose to drive by hire car to the resort, take the SS 241 Grande Strada delle Dolomiti which will take you straight to the resort.

By train you can board the Eurostar service from London Waterloo or Ashford in Kent to Paris and connect with the overnight train from Paris to Verona. From there, catch a train on the Verona-Trento-Bolzano-Merano-Silandro line to Bolzano and transfer from there to the resort via a regular SAD bus service.

By air, the nearest airport to Val Di Fassa is located 80kms from the resort at Bolzano. Flights from the UK are available to this airport, with a regular bus transfer service available to the resort with the SAD bus company.
